āMy goal every day is to make a difference in some way. Whether it be small, or large, I want to say that each day Iāve made the effort to make someone else's day better or easier.I love being involved in my client's business journeyās and in a small community like Bunbury, its particularly important to me to ensure that our clients feel like you are a partner working towards a common goal.We have to be creative and be open minded every day to be able to identify different opportunities that are going to help our customers. When I was younger, I thought I would end up being a police officer, then I fell in love with business banking, particularly the humbling feeling that you get when you know that youāve been instrumental in not only your client's success but helping them to support their families and their dreams.Coming up to my 10 years at CommBank and many discussions with clients, I've found that itās really important for local businesses to have the opportunity to connect with like-minded business owners and share tips and tricks that theyāve learnt along the way. Discovering these insights and lessons, no matter how small, helps them push forward, building resilience and set goals that are achievable. If thereās one thing Iāve learnt in my career, itās to stop waiting to be qualified and instead start asking yourself ācan I learn that?ā The answer is you absolutely can.āTennae DelamotteExecutive Manager, Regional and Agribusiness Banking

Scammers are finding more sophisticated ways to target our customers every day. As our branch manager Saly Gad found out last month, sometimes their methods can be convincing.āI recently had an experience with a nervous customer who had come into our branch looking to transfer money to a friend in the USA. It turns out, a scammer had hacked into our customerās accounts and transferred money from his savings to his transactions account. The scammer couldnāt transfer straight into his own account because the CommBank app required a code to send the money. Thatās when the scammer called our customer and convinced him that he was a Microsoft staff member who urgently needed the customer to transfer him 10k so he wouldnāt lose his job. It's part of our training to be attentive and notice when a customer is uncomfortable. Thatās how we were able to identify and verify the facts when our customer was at his most vulnerable. I am glad that in this circ*mstance, we were able to catch the scam before it happened and save our customer thousands of dollars and a lot of stress.āJust as our customer experienced here, scammers will try to put pressure on you to act quickly and with emotion to get what they want. Remember if it doesn't seem right, it probably isn't. Stopš, Checkš and Rejectā.

āIām often asked what motivates me to volunteer? Like many others, Iāve personally witnessed the devastating impact of cancer through the loss of loved ones. I want to do my part towards improving cancer treatment, and ultimately finding a cure.Itās also the faces of gratitude, the heartfelt thanks, the knowledge that even the smallest act of kindness has the power to brighten someoneās day, the smallest of contributions can make a difference to someone.More than anything, it's the sense of connection that volunteering brings. In a world that often feels divided by differences, volunteering has a unique ability to unite us as one team with a common cause. Whether we're out there pounding the pavement, ticking off those kilometres or pedalling our hearts out spreading the message of āBe Fit, Be Healthy, Be Happyā, we are bound together by the simple, yet profound desire to make a difference. As I continue to answer the call and lend a helping hand where itās needed, Iām grateful to CBA who supports me to volunteer for a cause that Iām passionate about, and knowing that together, we can truly make a difference.āSally Morris

ā28 years in and I feel incredibly lucky that banking was my first stop right out of high school. A few months after I had finished my HSC, I secured a traineeship where I worked for the Commonwealth Bank part time whilst studying at University. Itās quite funny when you say you work at CBA, people donāt let you get to the part where you explain what you do, they usually start asking you questions about their own finances.Iām inspired by learning new things and solving problems. I love uncovering a challenge and working on a resolution within my team to ultimately deliver a better experience for our customers. My favourite part about my role is speaking with customers, spending time with them and really understanding the impact that we are having on their lives and their business, itās a privilege to be invited into their world and hear their journey and key learnings along the way. A big part of my role involves developing new lending products to support Australian businesses, this really excites me. Itās key for customers to be able to come to their bank to problem solve their pain points or build out their strategy. Itās really important that we maintain a solid foundation of trust with our customers, that we engage early and help them quickly. If thereās one thing that I could tell my younger self it would be that youāll never stop learning. Youāre going to need to continue to learn and you should embrace every learning opportunity that comes your way because it helps your brain to keep ticking and keeps us relevant in a fast-paced world.āElizabeth Huxley GAICDGeneral Manager & Crew Lead - Working Capital

āBairnsdale is a vibrant community, itās very multicultural and the people here are open-hearted, open-minded and so kind. The region is well known for its tourism, retail presence, hospitality venues and most importantly, itās the gateway to New South Wales. I live and work in Bairnsdale, my favourite thing about living here is the beautiful scenery and the people. Working in a small community means that youāre very close with your customers and they often become like friends.Iāve had the pleasure of working at CommBank for the last 11 years and Iāve worked my way from a Customer Banking Specialist to a Business Banker and now a Branch Manager.I love my role because I get the opportunity every single day to speak with customers, whether this is general enquiries, helping to protect them from scams or just trying to make their day brighter. As a Branch Manager, the connection that we build with our staff and community is so important. I wake up and Iām excited because I know that I come to work every day to enhance customers well-being.Itās very important for us to be present in regional communities because we provide customers with a safe refuge for important conversations.Any opportunity that I get to serve in the community gives me great joy and I take part in a lot of events, be it the Clown Doctors, Can 4 Cancer or NAIDOC Week walks. These are the kinds of things that make me call Bairnsdale home.āTarun BajajBranch Manager ā Bairnsdale, Gippsland Region

"Weāre always focused on bringing our customers simple and easy solutions to manage their money. This means we constantly look for ways to improve the lived experience for customers using our products and services. For our credit card customers, we developed SurePay Purchase Instalment plans to help manage their everyday spend. At its core, SurePay Purchase instalment plans allow eligible customers to take greater control of their credit card purchases by allowing them to breakdown purchases into smaller amounts, and choose the amount they would like to pay off, based how much you can afford each month with a simple one-off set up fee and is also interest free.We used design thinking principles to develop the feature, user testing, and worked closely with our customers and team to validate the approach and ensure the delivery was simple and easy. What is live in market, is that with a click of a button in the CommBank app, customers can select a SurePay Purchase instalment plan that suitstheir needs.Iām proud of the way our team was able to come together and design a modern solution that can help support our customers in a way that theyāve been asking for. āThe number of infants without access to clean drinking water is huge and these children grow up with serious health issues as a result. We've worked with scientists on a product that can help provide clean drinking water.Tapping into renewable energy and nanotechnology, the product will see clean drinking water become readily available to underprivileged women and infants in villages. I'm excited to say that we are almost ready and the first country weāll launch in is India. To continue nurturing the bilateral relationship between Australia and India, and to align with the Indian Prime Ministerās vision of clean drinking water for all, I want to give back to the community, specifically women and children. We want to release this product in Indian villages for free to help people lead a cleaner, healthier life, and give an equal chance to everyone.āGet to know more about Sheba Nandkeolyar, Founder and CEO of MultiConnexions Group, in this insightful conversation with Shivani Gopal on the Leading Women podcast in the comments below. #CBAWomeninFocus

āI originally wanted to be a teacher, but I somehow ended up as a professional athlete! I got into volleyball by accident, my brother asked me to fill in at a social game and that was how it all began. I represented Australia on the Indoor floorboards for ten years and then went on to be a professional beach volleyball athlete from my late 20ās for another 10 years.Towards the end of my beach volleyball career, I realised that there were professional business opportunities by sharing my story as an athlete, through both panels and public speaking. I started off speaking with my knees shaking reading word for word off my notes but over time Iāve progressed in confidence and skill.Me and my former teammate, Natalie Cook, realised that a lot of corporate companies wanted to engage in beach volleyball and incorporate sport into their team building exercises. We put together team building opportunities and realised that was another great way of doing what we loved and earning an income from it.When I retired from being an athlete, I continued sharing my story and the opportunities grew. I realised that my success was grounded by the things I really love doing. I started to life coach and mentor others to help them be the best versions of themselves to support them reach their goals. The biggest lesson Iāve learnt in business is resilience, because it keeps you focused on the big goals and bouncing back from setbacks. If you donāt succeed at first, you will try and try again. All of the losses eventually lead to the big win. You need to be patient and continue to have the mindset that the win will come, as long as you are doing the work and develop that belief in yourself. When I look at opportunities in the business world, I look for ways that I can teach people about unpacking their own success stories and coaching them on presentation skills that I have learnt, which Iām doing now with athletes and business people. If you incorporate some of the aspects of being an athlete into your everyday business life, youāre more likely to succeed. Itās all about nourishing the mind and body with the right mindset, nutrition, hydration, movement and recovery. Thatās my idea of being a Corporate Athlete. What drives me every day is the idea of freedom, I donāt like to be or have an ordinary life, I love the freedom of running my own business, my own life and my own show.If I could tell my younger self one thing it would be to be kind to yourself, especially during the moments of loss.āKerri Pottharst OAM OLYFounder & Director, The Athlete Story
