Back in my workshop, after I could hardly leave Elaine because I had to kiss her again and again at the doorstep until her neighbor interrupted us and I had to take off, I'm now preparing all the tools for the fix. I wish I hadn't put the repairs off until today, because I was dying inside to be with her, but I couldn't have known that things would turn out the way they did. I didn't know I was going to get this far with Elaine in such a short time.
"Hey, there," Taehyung yells as he jogs over to me from the front gate, and when he gets to me, he pins me under his armpit and fuzzes my hair with his hand.
"Stop it." I scold playfully as I kick my foot up his ass.
"Ouch. Since when do you beat your hyung? I have to make you respect me again."
"Shut up." I chuckle.
Tae and I get along best within our group of friends or let's say we know exactly how the other one feels. He is the first person I met out of the group and probably because he is only two years older than me, he also knows best how I function. He has always been there for me, for which I'm very grateful to him because without him the tough time would have been only half as bearable. I'm grateful for my friends and for what they have done for me.
"Where's the car?" I ask, a little impatient because I want to get the repairs done as soon as possible so that I can go back to Elaine quickly.
"It's outside," Taehyung answers as he grabs my toolbox and runs out, me following him with a few steps behind.
I attach the car to the car lift that is in front of the workshop and lift it up in the air so that I can have a closer look at the lower part. Humming to myself I use various tools to repair the damage, Taehyung watching me while I do so and I'm glad because I notice that not much needs to be done. I twist and turn the parts while my thoughts are always on Elaine and her beautiful smile, remembering the moments of yesterday.
"What are you smiling about?" Taehyung asks me, taking me out of my daydreaming, and I only now realize that I was smiling the whole time.
"I didn't tell you guys, but Elaine and I went on a date last night," I proudly say.
His eyebrows jump up in the air and an amused grin takes in his amazed look, which makes me nod, wiping out his confusion.
"A date? Did you get laid?"
"Tae! Don't say that." I rant, my eyes wide, now a little shy about his prediction. I've never been shy about topics like this, but simply because I never cared.
"What? It's not like you never said these things on your own initiative."
"Yeah, I know, but Elaine's something else," I mutter playing with the screwdriver in my hand. "We're seeing each other now."
"Already? Don't you think it's a little too soon?" he asks unsettled. "I'm not sure if that's a good thing."
I get irritated by his question. Why should it be too soon when we have admitted our true feelings to each other? After all, there is no rule or limit to how many weeks, months, or years must pass before you can date a person. I made it clear to Elaine a long time ago how I feel about her and she returned my feelings, we went on a date and even had sex. Why shouldn't I ask her to be my girlfriend? Besides, it's my life and I'm old enough to make my own decisions. I admit I didn't do any of these things I do now with Elaine with anyone else but that's simply because they didn't matter.
"I don't know what the problem is. You should be happy for me." I roll my eyes. Actually, there was so much more I wanted to say, but I didn't want to start a fight.
"Don't get me wrong right away. I'm happy if you're happy. I'm just worried about you Jungkook. I have seen how long you have suffered, how you have fallen deeper every day, how you have fought with yourself every damned day." he grips my shoulder with one hand, squeezing it a little and I look down in shame because of the sincerity reflected in his dark orbs.
"But I have also seen how you were looking at her on your birthday, I have seen the look in your eyes, Jungkook. Man, you gotta pull yourself together, she's already got you under control." he chuckles now, spicing up the atmosphere. "I just don't want you to get hurt again because I know that if you do, you'll hit bottom this time."
"I know you only want the best for me, Tae. But it's different with her. I can feel it. You must think I'm crazy or childish, but I felt it from the second I first saw her."
It may sound really crazy, but deep down I got this feeling that she can't hurt me. I've never seen such fitting energy in anyone before. We laugh about the same things, we think the same, we have endless fun together and she is the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. What more could I ask for?
I just hope that my feeling doesn't let me down this time.
