About Waitlists

What if a class is already full?

If a class section is full, check to see if another section has available seats. If not, add your name to the waitlist in Self-Service. If a seat becomes available the next person on the Waitlist will be automatically registered for the section. You will be notified at your FTCC student email of your Waitlist registration.

The Waitlist option will be available for every section at the start of each registration period and closes on the last day of the registration period.

It is the student’s responsibility to pay for any course registration through the waitlist process by the posted payment deadline.

Get on a Waitlist:

  1. Login to Self-Service and click on Student Planning
  2. Select Go to Plan & Schedule, search the class you want
  3. If the section has a 0 for seats available that means there is a waitlist, select Add Section to Schedule
  4. Return to Plan & Schedule and press the Waitlist Button for that class.

Can a student be on multiple Waitlists?

Students can be on waitlists for different courses but cannot be on a waitlist for multiple sections of the same course.

Can a student remove themselves from a Waitlist?

Student’s must contact their academic advisor to be removed from a waitlist.

What if another section is added?

Students should check Self-Service regularly. Additional sections for courses may be added at any time during the registration period. Students can register for another section of a course, but they must remove their name from the Waitlist first.

Online Course Withdrawal

Once the refund period has passed, students who are unable to remain in a course for the current term can request to be withdrawn in Self-Service, as long as it is within the withdrawal period.

Review: Refund, Withdrawal & Incomplete Dates under current Semester’s Registration button, to see withdrawal dates for the current semester.

  • Withdrawn courses will appear on your transcript with a grade of “W,” which is not factored into your academic GPA.
  • If you are receiving Financial Aid or VA Benefits, the college advises contacting the appropriate office prior to withdrawing from class to avoid any potential financial or academic penalties.

Submit A Course Withdrawal:

  1. Login to Self-Service
  2. Under Academics: Select Student Course Withdrawal
  3. Complete the form
  4. Agree to the terms and click Submit

You will receive email confirmation from the Registrar’s office when your withdrawal request has been processed. Generally, 24-48 business hours after submission.

Contact your instructor if you have any questions about withdrawing from class.
